About This Event
The Chattahoochee National Forest and surrounding mountains are beautiful but fire-prone, especially during dry fall and winter months. Always check current burn ban status before starting any outdoor fire โ Georgia forestry burn bans are strictly enforced. If fires are permitted, use only designated fire pits at your cabin or campsite. Never leave a fire unattended, and ensure fires are completely extinguished (drown, stir, feel) before leaving. Keep fires small and manageable. During dry conditions, even a discarded cigarette can start a devastating wildfire. The Georgia Forestry Commission issues burn ban updates at 1-800-GA-TREES (1-800-428-7337). If you see smoke or an unattended fire, call 911 immediately.
